Digital Narrative or Digital Storytelling

My next post is about Digital Narrative or Digital Storytelling. I hope you like it :) 

                                          What is it ?

Digital narrative is a storytelling that benefits from digital technologies. 

 It appeals to a wide audience and is open to interaction. At a time when writing was not even invented, people narrated each other stories by creating legends, gods, enemies. we have all heard stories from our elders. In fact, the presentation of traditional stories in digital environments by undergoing changes is called as digital storytelling. Digital storytelling can be diversified in many ways.

I will evaluate digital storytelling from an educational point of view.

Digital Narrative, which allow teachers and students to tell their stories by combining elements such as audio, images, video using simple multimedia tools, is a way that teachers can use while in language teaching. With the development of technology, it began to be used even more in the classroom environment. There is no limitation in Digital Narrative, which makes it more effective. Narrative has always been a way for teaching and learning language and Story telling has been an effective method for teaching&learning English. Teachers can use digital storytelling by adding audio and illustrations to simple and monotone ppt presentations, which makes the lesson more influential. Digital storytelling has many positive aspects, such as developing students ' writing skills, increasing student productivity and creativity, and enhancing motivation in language learning.

I said storytelling has no limits, but of course it has rules to follow. If we briefly list the steps, the sketch of the desired story is prepared as the first job. The necessary research is supposed to be done for the story. Images, music and videos must be selected to enrich the content. You can tell your story with a poster, e-book, cartoon or video. 

Digital Narrative provides students to understand topics that they are bored with or don't understand by combining them with technology. Like teachers students can create digital stories.

Digital storytelling is a beautiful and effective method for students to use the technology that they use in everyday life in education more efficiently. And I think every teacher should try it with himself/herself and his/her students in classes.
